Rooms In My Heart

SAInts Like You · 30 June 2026 · 4:42

“Rooms In My Heart” is a gospel song about the parts of ourselves we keep closed off, unfinished, and hidden.

The song uses an old house as a picture of the heart. Some rooms are damaged. Some are dark. Some have been locked for so long we almost forget what is behind the door.

And then grace walks in. Not to tear the house down. Not to move us somewhere else. But to stay through the storm and begin repairing what we thought was beyond saving.

It is about surrender, healing, and the quiet realization that faith does not always arrive by removing the damage. Sometimes it enters the damaged places with us.

There are rooms filled with sorrow. Rooms filled with silence. Rooms we are ashamed to open. But there can also be rooms filled with mercy. Rooms filled with flowers. Rooms where the light finally gets back in.

And maybe healing begins when we stop deciding which parts of ourselves God is allowed to see.

Lyrics

I left the back door open The rain was pouring down There was water in the basement Trouble rising from the ground You found me on the second floor By the window in my room I didn’t know what You came here for You said “Son, I came for you” There are many rooms in my heart And You know every part Some of them I shut the door to Some I left wide open Some were filled with sorrow But now they’re filled with hoping Some of them I shut the door to Some I left wide open Some were filled with silence But now they’re filled with flowers I showed You ’round the house There were walls that needed fixing I said “I’ve thought about leaving And starting over different ’Cause it costs so much to live here And I’m tired of the dark” You said “Son, I’m not here to move you I’m here to heal your heart” There are many rooms in my heart And You know every part Some of them I shut the door to Some I left wide open Some were filled with sorrow But now they’re filled with hoping Some of them I shut the door to Some I left wide open Some were filled with silence But now they’re filled with flowers And I don’t know what You saw in me When the ceiling started to leak When every room I locked away Had secrets it couldn’t keep But You stood there in the hallway Like You knew I’d make it through And if this house falls down someday I know I’ll still have You You stayed in the storm You stayed in the rain You walked through the rooms I covered in shame You called me by name You carried me through And every closed door Started opening to You Some of them I shut the door to Some I left wide open Some were filled with sorrow But now they’re filled with hoping Some of them I shut the door to Some I left wide open Some were filled with mercy And some were filled with flowers There are many rooms in my heart But You know every part There are many rooms in my heart And You’re welcome in them all
